Project Presentation

By the end of this chapter project we should be organize by having the materilas that we have researched or made up into a paresentation.

February 6th, day one

Here is the list of things we did today (located on the side board by the door):
Mental math
Blog Scribing Rules
Life insurance.

Today we pretty much started off with a little explanation of how to do mental math. Then we jumped right into it. The mental math took us about over fifteen minutes, just because we are just getting into it. (pictures of the mental math wont always be in the blog, i just thought that since it was my first blog i would include it so i can figure out how to do it =] )

here is the mental math that we did today, just thought that i would add it in here

After mental math we got a handout for the blog scribing and we just read through it. It pretty much gave us all the rules on how to do a scribe. The handout also laid out the ground rules as to what exactly is expected of us while posting a blog.

The above picture is the "notes" that we could have taken (notes only have to be written if you feel that you learn better doing so). They basically just told us what was needed to be done in each chapter of the text book. It just made it clear as to what was expected to be done throughout each chapter. We also have the option of working ahead and finishing all the vocabulary that is in each chapter on the first page of each exploration(located in the blue boxes at the bottom of the page). We can do the assignments as we go along, or all at once, that option is left totally up to each of us.

ASSIGNMENT- Chapter 1 - Life insurance.

Page 22

Numbers 1-7 due for Monday February 9th 2009.

Other Features

Other Features of the text book are helpfull in many ways.
They include: New Terms, Hints, Technology, Mental Math, Problem Analysis and Games. These seven points are all very important in the learning of math.

As Per Instructions (How To Use Your Textbook)...

Here's what you're doing...

Explorations

Every topic in the math book is separated into catagories called explorations which describe the task at hand. It will show you step by step how to go about solving problems. You may find that these explorations contain activities for practice what was learned.

Case Study

Case Study- Each chapter has one of these at the end. It gives you extra practice to apply all you have learned in the chapter

TEXTBOOK ANSWER KEY!

So pretty much the way you use the answer key for the grade 12 consumer math text book is, you look for the page mumber that your questions are on, question number and the chapter that you are working in. You then go to the back of the book (answer key) located on page 435 to page 477. The chapters are clearly labled at the top of of the page in a big blue box. The answer key is used to check to see if your answers are correct or to see what the answer is so that you can try to figure out how to actually do the question...

chapter introduction

A chapter review is a explanation of an assignment (ex. taxes, banking, ect). It will tell you what to expect in the chapter.

Chapter Review

The Chapter Review is at the end of every unit. We cover the Chapter Review to help us better understand the topics that we went over during the whole unit. To put it in simple terms we use the Chapter Review simply as a helpful reminder of what we have learned before our test/quiz.

It Begins Again....

This semester, we'll use this blog as a place for notes, thoughts, links, and anything else that makes learning better, easier, etc....Welcome, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy learning from and with each other....
